Answer to Question 1

myelodysplastic syndrome, French-American-British, refractory anemia with ringed sideroblasts

Answer to Question 2

Hemoglobin is the molecule that imparts color (-chrome) to the blood. A normal amount of hemoglobin gives the blood a normal (normo-) color (-chrome). More specifically, a sufficient amount of hemoglobin inside each red cell gives the cell its full complement of color.
