In a free society, education is about learning how to think for yourself, learning how to seek the information you need, learning how to correct mistaken assumptions, how to evaluate the claims people make, how to reason well, and how to detect and resist fallacious reasoning. In a free society, the power of government is used to protect the right to free and open inquiry, and the right to share what we learn, and to collaborate with others to make better decisions and to learn more about the world.
