The nurse will assess the patient to determine which pain scale they should use based on their cognitive understanding. Which pain scale would typically be used by an older school-age child (10 to12 years old)?

   2. Cries Scale
   3. FACES Scale
   4. FLACC Scale

2. The Cries scale should be used for newborns and young infants. The scale will not assess pain in the school-age group.
