Latchkey children are more likely to get into trouble and behave irresponsibly than children who are supervised. They are at increased risk for accidents due to poor judgment. These children are more likely to use drugs or alcohol. Increased feelings of fear and loneliness are common in this group.

5. Intake monitoring is needed so a measure can be made of the amount of fluid the body is retaining and voiding.
