2. A delirium tremor is the most severe type of alcohol withdrawal, occurring within one week of cessation or severe reduction in alcohol use. Patients may experience visual or tactile hallucinations; disorientation; delusions and agitation; anxiety and feeling frightened; and grand mal seizures.
3. Headaches may occur before the delirium tremors begin.
4. Muscle cramps are not noted in delirium tremors.
