After a blood draw from the antecubital fossa of a 5-year-old child, the child continues to cry and to press his hand against the puncture site. The nurse's best intervention would be to say:

Preschoolers may fear continuously losing blood from the puncture site. The placement of a large bandage reassures them that their body fluids will not leak out.

Answer to Question 2

The hydrocephalic child is difficult to feed because of vomiting and the difficulty with the weight of the head. The feeding time should be calm and slow. The room should be darkened and quiet. The baby should be burped often to reduce the threat of vomiting.
