Answer to Question 1

C
The child should be told in advance that there is a possibility the eyes will be covered when the child wakes from surgery. The parents should be allowed to remain with the child if the eyes are to be covered. This will decrease anxiety. The surgery does not involve the internal structures of the eye, so there are no activity restrictions.

Answer to Question 2

A
Amblyopia is cause by the brain turning off confusing visual images. This is caused by the image not falling on the retina. It is not caused by clouding of the retina. Structural eye damage is not the cause. Ocular occlusion is a treatment for amblyopia, not a cause.
