The teen returns in a few weeks for a follow-up visit. The parents report poor compliance in wearing the brace. The nurse should take which of the following actions to try to improve compliance:

The teen should have the positive benefits of the bracing reinforced, in order to help with compliance. If the brace is not fitting well, the teen should be referred to a fitter, so that adjustments can be made. The teen does not want to have his or her concerns minimized. The teen is aware that the brace is there and needs to be allowed to express this frustration. The frustration the teen is expressing is not due to immaturity.
