Question 2

Which of the following examples correctly exhibits the organization used in a narrative essay?

  a) When you walk into my living room, you first see my tan couch. Behind the couch is a black standing light that has three individual lamps. Beside the light are two tall bookcases. I keep all of my old textbooks and my pictures on them. Next to the bookcases is a brown chair. I got it from a friend a few years ago. Then, next to the chair is a coffee table.

  b) Before I could go outside, I had to put on my coat and grab my umbrella. The rain fell so hard that I got wet anyway. After I got to my car, I tried to dry off my umbrella. Then I started the car and drove through the flooded streets to my doctor's appointment. By the time I got there, I was soaking wet and cranky.

  c) I didn't like the movie we went to see last night. The movie's message was completely inappropriate. It seemed to promote political and moral corruption. The themes were too risqu for viewers under the age of 18 . I don't like the starring actors, and the costumes looked cheap. And lastly, I only like thriller movies.

  d) The football game last night was very exciting. The crowd was yelling, and the players were sweating. Football is my favorite sport. I love it when the score is tied and the fans are sitting on the edge of their seats. I could do without the cheerleaders, though. Most of the time they aren't even paying attention to the game. I don't think they know anything about football anyway. They just like to dance around in their short skirts.
