Answer to Question 1

C, D, E
Feedback:
After eye surgery for strabismus, the patient may experience nausea and vomiting and pain on eye movement. The patient will also be prescribed antibiotic ointment. An eye patch is not usually required. The child will not need to be on bed rest for 3 days.

Answer to Question 2

A
Feedback:
Epidemiology can help determine the health and health needs of a population and assist in planning health services. Community health nurses perform epidemiologic investigations in order to help analyze and develop health policy and community health initiatives. The nurse provides culturally competent care but does not use epidemiology to determine culture, income levels, or mortality rates of children.

This condition is progressive and worsens with time. More than 100 million people in the United States are nearsighted, but only 20% of those are born with the condition.
