The child should be positioned in a semi-Fowler's position so that infected drainage from the cecum drains downward into the pelvis rather than upward toward the lungs. Oxygen is not indicated for this disorder. Positioning flat in bed could cause draining to move toward the lungs. An indwelling urinary catheter is not indicated for this disorder.
