Answer to Question 1

A, B, E
Feedback
Correct A postnatal change in the respiratory system is the stimulation of
respiration by hypoxemia, hypercarbia, cold, tactile stimulation, and a
possible decrease in the concentration of prostaglandin E2.
Incorrect Surfactant in the lungs lowers surface tension and facilitates lung
expansion. It does not stimulate respirations. Pulmonary blood flow
increases after birth, but this does not stimulate respirations in the
newborn.

Answer to Question 2

A
Feedback
A Because absence of deep tendon reflexes is a sign of magnesium toxicity, the
next scheduled dose should not be administered. Calcium gluconate is the
antidote that should be administered.
B An hourly output of less than 30 mL could indicate toxicity.
C A respiratory rate of less than 12 breaths/min could indicate toxicity.
D Decrease in blood pressure is an expected side effect of magnesium sulfate.

Chronic necrotizing aspergillosis has a slowly progressive process that, unlike invasive aspergillosis, does not spread to other organ systems or the blood vessels. It most often affects middle-aged and elderly individuals, spreading to surrounding tissue in the lungs. The disease often does not respond to conventionally successful treatments, and requires individualized therapies in order to keep it from becoming life-threatening.
