The contractions in the scenario are characteristic of the active phase of the first stage of labor. During this phase contractions are usually 2 to 3 minutes apart an lasting up to 60 seconds. Latent phase contractions are usually 15 to 20 minutes apart, lasting 20 to 30 seconds. Characteristics of transition are contractions occurring 1.5 to 2 minutes apart and lasting 60 to 90 seconds in duration.
