Cerclage is a surgical technique involving suturing the cervix closed in the client with an incompetent cervix and is used to prevent cervical dilation. Medications such as terbutaline are used to stop premature labor contractions. Cerclage has no impact on vaginal bleeding or on the integrity of the membranes.
