Answer to Question 1

C

Answer to Question 2

D
When counseling parents of a premature infant the nurse should include the fact that prematurity is often associated with chronic complications. Telling the parents that frequently preterm infants develop major disabilities that can last into childhood is frightening and not a true statement. The length of stay depends on how the neonate's transition to extrauterine life progresses. Telling the parents that all preterm neonates require a ventilator to support their breathing is also a frightening and untrue statement.
