Answer to Question 1

A
During the first period of reactivity that begins with birth and extends through the first 12 to 24 hours, the neonates tend to have an intense period of activity and alertness. Early breastfeeding helps develop the maternal milk supply by the 2nd to 3rd day. The infants needing nourishment and learning how to breastfeed correctly are not the rationale for early breastfeeding.

Answer to Question 2

B
Telling the woman The cycle of violence often repeats itself is a true statement that does not leave the victim with false hopes. Telling the client that it is great that her husband has stopped hitting her and promises never to hit her again is an inappropriate and unprofessional response. Defense of the abuser is inappropriate and unprofessional for the nurse. There is not enough information in this situation for the nurse to tell the woman that she should consider leaving her husband.
