Answer to Question 1

B
The EDD for your client would be May 11th. It is computed in the following manner:
First day of last period August 4th. Add 7 days = August 11
Next take August 11 and subtract 3 months = May 11

Answer to Question 2

A
The normal caloric intake for a woman of childbearing age is 2000 kcal/day; for the breastfeeding mother, the caloric intake should be 2500 kcal/day. Breastfeeding mothers' fluid requirements can be met by drinking six 8-ounce glasses of water or caffeine-free drinks/day. Avoidance of spicy foods is recommended because it can affect how breast milk tastes, while true for many women, is not the most appropriate answer to the question concerning dietary instructions. Breastfeeding actually encourages weight loss secondary to the amount of energy required for the metabolic needs of lactation.
