Answer to Question 1

A
Diabetes is a leading cause of cardiovascular compromise. So before starting any exercise program, a client with a history of diabetes should have a cardiac workup to be sure the client participates in a safe exercise program for his or her condition. Women over the age of 50, pregnant women, or men over 40 do not need a cardiac workup unless they have a history of health factors that would compromise their heart health.

Answer to Question 2

B
The client should be tested for fragile X syndrome if the history reveals that several males in the family were diagnosed with unexplained mental retardation.
