Answer to Question 1

A, D, F
The cardiovascular side effects of COCs related to hormone dosage include estrogen excess, capillary fragility, cerebrovascular accident, deep vein thrombosis, telangiectasis, and thromboembolic disease. Increased breast size and hypermenorrhea are reproductive side effects, and dizziness is a premenstrual side effect.

Answer to Question 2

B
Ice packs will help decrease breast stimulation and decrease engorgement. Calling the physician to request a medication order for Parlodel is not an appropriate action for the nurse. Acetaminophen would be a medication choice at this time. Showing the client how to use a breast pump to remove milk would increase breast stimulation, engorgement, and pain. Suggesting that the client soothe breasts under a warm relaxing shower will stimulate milk production and engorgement through vascular dilation.
