Answer to Question 1

Ans: B, C, D
Many of the common congenital malformations, such as cleft palate, are attributed to multifactorial inheritance (a combination of genes from both parents, along with unknown environmental factors, produces the trait or condition). These disorders tend to have familial tendencies as well.

Answer to Question 2

Ans: D
The parents may state, during the health history, that it is difficult to keep the child awake. Physical examination would reveal that the child is below weight and height, that his skin is pale and mottled, and that he is lethargic and irritable.
