Because the vaginal area is cleaner than the anus, cleaning and applying pads, ointments, etc., should always go from front to back. Otherwise, the woman may bring bacteria from the anus to the episiotomy or the vagina.

Localized pain in the calf or leg may indicate thrombophlebitis. The other options are not abnormal.
