Answer to Question 1

ANS: D
The infant should not be immersed in water until the cord is off and the site is healed because of risk of infection. Plain water is recommended for the first few weeks to preserve the skin's pH. Babies do not have to be bathed every day. Bathing after feeding may stimulate regurgitation.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: C
An infant left on a changing table or bed without rails is at risk of falling. Propping a bottle is not recommended; it has been associated with aspiration, choking, and otitis media. To reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome, infants should be positioned on their backs to sleep. To ride in cars, infants should be secure in an approved infant seat. They should not be held by a passenger because they could be crushed by the passenger's body if there is a collision.
