Answer to Question 1

ANS: A
Repositioning may improve the blood flow to the fetus by correcting the mother's hypotension. The health care provider or charge nurse should be notified because repetitive decelerations may reflect fetal hypoxia.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: B
With variable decelerations, the fetal heart rate pattern is not uniform. The drop in heart rate is usually temporary and most often is caused by compression of the umbilical cord.

Only one in 10 cancer deaths is caused by the primary tumor. The vast majority of cancer mortality is caused by cells breaking away from the main tumor and metastasizing to other parts of the body, such as the brain, bones, or liver.

There are major differences in the metabolism of morphine and the illegal drug heroin. Morphine mostly produces its CNS effects through m-receptors, and at k- and d-receptors. Heroin has a slight affinity for opiate receptors. Most of its actions are due to metabolism to active metabolites (6-acetylmorphine, morphine, and morphine-6-glucuronide).

Nearly all drugs pass into human breast milk. How often a drug is taken influences the amount of drug that will pass into the milk. Medications taken 30 to 60 minutes before breastfeeding are likely to be at peak blood levels when the baby is nursing.
