Answer to Question 1

ANS: D
The use of sacral pressure may provide relief for clients who are experiencing back labor. The presentation of the fetus in a posterior position indicates this. Neuromuscular dissociation is used as a conditioned response to affect pain relief based on the mother tensing one group of muscles and focusing on releasing tension in the rest of her body. Effleurage is the process of using circular massage to effect pain relief. Psychoprophylaxis is another name for the Lamaze method of prepared childbirth.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: D
The birth plan helps the woman and her partner look at the available options and plan the birth experience to meet their personal needs. A birth plan cannot dictate the need for or avoidance of an episiotomy. The outcome of the birth is not an absolute determinant. A birth plan does not assume complete control of the situation; it allows for expanding communication.

There are major differences in the metabolism of morphine and the illegal drug heroin. Morphine mostly produces its CNS effects through m-receptors, and at k- and d-receptors. Heroin has a slight affinity for opiate receptors. Most of its actions are due to metabolism to active metabolites (6-acetylmorphine, morphine, and morphine-6-glucuronide).
