Answer to Question 1

ANS: B
Ngele's rule subtracts 3 months from the month of the last menstrual period (month 4 month  3 = January) and adds 7 days to the day that the last menstrual period started (April 12 + 7 days = April 19), so the correct answer is January 19.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: B
Smoking during pregnancy increases the risk for spontaneous abortion, low birth weight, abruptio placentae, placenta previa, preterm birth, perinatal mortality, and SIDS. Smoking does not appear to cause congenital anomalies, hypoglycemia, or withdrawal syndrome.
