Answer to Question 1

ANS: A, C, D
Toddlers are in Erikson's stage of autonomy versus shame and doubt, and need to feel a sense of control over their physical abilities and increasing autonomy. Activity restrictions, not being able to talk while intubated, and a loss of control will all have a major impact on this child. Body image disturbances and separation from peers would have a bigger impact on an older child.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: A, C, D
Exposure to excessive noise has several detrimental physiological effects, including slower healing and recovery process, sleep disturbances, cardiovascular stimulation, increased gastric secretions, pituitary and adrenal gland stimulation, and suppression of the immune response to infection.
