Answer to Question 1

ANS: C
The fetal lie is the relationship of the long axis of the woman to the long axis of the fetus. If the head-to-tailbone axis of the fetus is the same as the woman's, the fetus is in a longitudinal lie. This occurs in more than 99 of pregnancies. Flexion of the fetal head is related to fetal attitude. When the long axis of the fetus is at a 90  angle to the long axis of the woman, it is called a transverse lie; this occurs in fewer than 1 of pregnancies.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: C
Pushing against a partially dilated cervix can lead to cervical edema and damage and can adversely affect the progress of the woman's labor. It is most important to protect the patient from injury. Encouraging rest between contractions and allowing the support person at the bedside are also important, but safety comes first.

Your skin wrinkles if you stay in the bathtub a long time because the outermost layer of skin (which consists of dead keratin) swells when it absorbs water. It is tightly attached to the skin below it, so it compensates for the increased area by wrinkling. This happens to the hands and feet because they have the thickest layer of dead keratin cells.
