The most basic form of automatic interaction detection is CHAID. CHAID involves taking every possible chi-square, finding the largest, and then splitting up the data based on that result. Then, within each branch, taking every chi-square and splitting the samples again based on the chi-square results. CHAID represents a basic form of big data mining. The results are depicted in a decision-tree that makes prediction of characteristics that are associated with success in some dependent variable easily understood.
