Answer to Question 1

Burning bridges means leaving a job on bad terms, such as leaving in anger, or making negative or critical remarks about your employer. It is an unprofessional practice. How you resign from a position can affect your future employment. It is important to resign professionally and gracefully because you may find yourself working with your supervisor or coworkers again in the future. Additionally, the impression you make when you leave may be the one an employer remembers when providing a reference.

Answer to Question 2

Prepare yourself by reviewing your interview notes. Make sure you know where and to whom you will report on your first day. Organize clothing and items you will need the night before your first day on the job. Plan to arrive early; allow time to find your workspace and introduce yourself to new coworkers. Be ready to listen more than you speak, and take notes as needed. Be friendly and positive. Be accountable for your actions and ready to take on responsibilities.
