The economic growth in emerging and developing markets has allowed millions of people to enter the middle class and has brought great new opportunities for them to experience and enjoy a better quality of life with goods and services that help them in many ways. It has also exposed them to the challenge of rising aspirations with limited income. It has presented practical and ethical dilemmas and the new international consumers must learn how to manage their aspirations as they experience emotional marketing appeals for products and services that might not be practical or good for them.
