Answer to Question 1

D

Answer to Question 2

Descriptive statistics describe things, such as characteristics of a population or sample. Inferential statistics allows inferences about a whole population form a sample. For example, when a firm test-markets a new product in two cities, it wishes to make an inference from these sample markets to predict what will happen throughout the United States. While descriptive statistics describe phenomena, inferential statistics allow researchers to generalize from a sample to a population. Thus, inferential statistics is most appropriate for causal research, such as a test market.
