A constitutive definition defines a construct with other constructs. An example would be defining brand loyalty in terms of a consumer's preference, attitude, or behavioral response to a target brand over time. An operational definition specifies how a construct is to be measured. Thus, it defines or gives meaning to a variable by spelling out what the investigator must to do to measure it.
