In the process of recruiting expatriates, companies should select those individuals who have traits such as: an openness and sensitivity to others, cultural sensitivity and awareness, awareness to relate across cultures, awareness of one's own cultural values, the ability to change one's usual behavior in cross-national settings, a high level of resiliency, a desire to go overseas, and an extensive international knowledge and/or willingness to gain it.
