Answer to Question 1

A
The total variance is partitioned into the variance between subjects and the variance within subjects, but only the variance within subjects is relevant to the evaluation of the hypotheses.

Answer to Question 2

D
The between subjects variance is calculated, but it only gives information about individual differences about the participants. It gives no information relevant to determining the validity of the hypotheses being tested in the experiment.
