Answer to Question 1

Two benefits of the new auto-emission standards are: (1) a re-duction in carbon emissions, which brings a decrease in the contribution of human activity to global warming and climate change, and (2) cleaner air, which contributes to improved health.

Answer to Question 2

Because average variable cost is equal to total variable cost divided by the number of units of output, this means that the firm's total variable cost must be equal to its average variable cost multiplied by the number of units of output. Therefore, total variable costs are equal to (52.50)(120) = 6,300 .
