Answer to Question 1

Quota sampling can simulate stratified random sampling by setting equal quotas for each of the subgroups that make up the population. Quota sampling can simulate proportionate stratified random sampling by setting quotas that correspond to the actual proportions that exist in the population. For example, if the population is known to have 11 Hispanics (even though the exact number is not known), a quota of 11 Hispanics could be set for the sample.
