Karly Planyi coined the term Great Transformation to refer to the global changes brought on by the Industrial Revolution. By this he meant that goods, land and labor took on a standardized monetary value, relationships based on contracts, the domination of the corporate form, the selling of labor for wages and the spread of political rights and equality.
