Answer to Question 1

Conflict theory and functionalism explain stratification primarily in economic terms, tracing the existence of certain classes to occupation, income, and wealth. Interactionist theory focuses on those behaviors that define or reinforce or challenge class divisions. They see the stratification system not as fixed but rather as created over and over again through the everyday behaviors of millions of people.
