The current trend in global immigration is
 
  a. less intermixing of populations and more distinct ethnic groupings
  b. increasing size of the foreign-born population in the U.S. and Europe
  c. more movement from more industrialized countries to less developed countries
  d. increase feelings of nationalism is keeping people in less developed countries from immigrating
  e. another decrease in international migration

Gentrification is the term for the development of low-income urban areas by landlords, members of the middle class, and professional developers. Renovated areas of the city are appealing to baby boomers without children, for example. Gentrification is seen as one part of a solution to the problems of the central city.
