Almost all human behavior that is considered normal must be learned. Humans are born helpless, and lack instincts that direct all aspects of their behavior. Societies have different cultures and socialization is necessary for every individual to learn the ways of his or her particular society. In addition, without socialization it is not possible for a human infant to develop a personality.
