The later that people marry, the less likely they are to divorceand people are getting married later in life. Second, the average age of the U.S. population is increasing. The rate of divorce is highest among younger adults, and the huge baby boom generation is getting beyond that stage. Third, married couples are having fewer children and spacing them further apart, thus reducing pressure on the parents.
