At one time in the U.S., individuals who were avowed homosexuals were prohibited from joining the armed services. Those already in who were discovered were discharged. This policy represents:
 
  a. individual prejudice on the part of certain officers.
  b. institutionalized prejudice and discrimination.
  c. discrimination that is justified because many citizens agree with it.
  d. an unfortunate occurrence but not discrimination because homosexuals are not a minority group.
