The following are suggested areas for students to address in their essays: Explain how the world systems theory evolved around capitalism.

Define core nations and provide an example.

Define semiperipheral nations and provide an example. Define peripheral nations and provide an example.

Provide a personal perspective on maquiladora plants.

Encourage students to include any personal views on the world systems theory in their responses.
