Answer to Question 1

True

Answer to Question 2

Ethnomethodology is the study of the commonsense knowledge that people use to

understand the situations in which they find themselves. Garfinkel initiated this

approach because he believed people create reality and produce their own world.

According to ethnomethodologists, interaction is based on assumptions of shared

expectancies. To uncover people's background expectancies, ethnomethodologists

frequently break rules or act as though they do not understand some basic rule of

social life so that they can observe other people's responses. The ethnomethodological

approach contributes to our knowledge of social interaction by making us aware of

subconscious shared expectations and social realities in our daily lives.
