Discuss the dangers that exist in the developing world if wealthy nations do not provide more resources for development aid. In what ways do wealthy nations currently provide support for developing nations? What provisos should be put in place with regard to humanitarian aid to maximize effectiveness?

Ideal Answer: The ideal answer should include:
1. Discuss the ways in which poverty is connected to global stability.
2. Compare and contrast the UN goals for rich nations versus aid that they actually give. Students should note examples of the ways humanitarian aid is distributed.
3. Discuss the three provisos suggested for humanitarian aid to developing nations.
4. Conclude with a discussion of some of the reasons why some U.S. politicians may be opposed to giving more foreign aid.
