they are either kidnapped or they borrow money to be transported to a location where they believe they will have a job, for example in a factory. They are then forced into prostitution to repay their debt. Their families are sometimes threatened if the girls try to escape.

glass ceiling  women may hit an artificial barrier beyond which they can't go (or get promoted), though they can see others above them; glass escalator  men in traditional women's fields tend to be promoted to administrative positions faster than women in those fields, (i.e. riding up more quickly).
