Answer to Question 1

The first is invention: when elements and materials that already are used by people are combined to create a new material good or a new way of doing a task. Second is discovery: a new way of seeing the world around us. Things that we discover already exist, but we are unaware of their existence. Third is diffusion: the spread of an invention or discovery from one area to another. Examples will vary.
