Answer to Question 1

Mass media companies are owned by economic elites who would not permit the use of their companies to undermine public support for their dominance. Broadcast news and entertainment reflect a fundamentally conservative perspective, supporting the dominant institutions and decisions by government leaders. Potentially revolutionary ideas, movements, and leaders get little, if any, coverage by the media. The coverage they do get is critical or dismissive.
