Sex education: prepares next generation for making responsible decisions in regard to sexuality. Matchmaking: introduction of young people to a future mate. Helps funnel people into marriages with mates of similar backgrounds, interests, and education. Promotes the development of social networks: creates a support system, both personal and professional, for individuals. Stabilizes employment: keeps some out of the labor market and keeps positions for older workers.
