Answer to Question 1

Answer: b

Answer to Question 2

The anomie theory posits that inconsistencies and contradictions in the social system contribute to many forms of crime. Sociologist Robert K. Merton observed that people in the United States are taught to strive for certain goals but are not always provided with the culturally approved means necessary to attain these goals. He referred to such inconsistencies and the confusion they can cause in people as anomie.
